This is NOT James McBride's website.

Or maybe it is James McBride's website. It depends on which James McBride you're looking for. If you're looking for James McBride, the famous author of "The Color of Water", that's a different James McBride. You can find that James McBride here:

The "real" James McBride
Other than the inability to turn off the music (I like the music, but sometimes quiet is called for) his seems like a great site. Anyway, James McBride the author seems a good guy. No real surprise with a name like James McBride.

I bought this domain name as a kind of lark, I thought I wanted something in my own name, and this was available. I have been thinking ever since about how to use it and what to put on it. I didn't think much about differentiating it from James McBride the author at the time, I just wanted to come up with something cool.

It took a while to realize that whatever else, I have NO interest in putting anything about me out there. There's just too much trouble that can come from that. Just as well, as there are enough famous James McBrides that anyone looking for me, is going to find them, not me.

More Not that James McBride

So the "real" James McBride effectively swamps all the other information about James McBride, no matter which one. I guess that's to be expected as James McBride is a pretty common name. In my family there are two of us and in the future there might be more. What about those other James McBride's that aren't the author and aren't me? Well if you dig deep enough in the Google search results you get what my father (James McBride) would call a rogue's gallery. Below are the ones that I thought are the most fun.

A graphic artist in Philly

A convicted murderer; hope we're not related

A latin america trade expert

A 20th century land and sea scape artist

An actor, director and Texan

A offensive guard in high school

About Us

It's not a bad coat of arms, but I'm not sure that it's authenic. How would we know if it wasn't. Anyway, other than an occasional greater enthusiasm for St. Patrick's Day, does it matter? In fact, isn't McBride ultimately a Scots name not an Irish one? Who knows.
